Normally, we reserve our blog to talk about the data engineering technology market, challenges in implementing big data analytics, or present case studies of companies that have successfully implemented agile data engineering. But today, we have some huge news with David Dorman joining our company as the Chairman of the Board of Directors. You can read the Barron’s coverage of the announcement as well. In related news, Buno Pati, who had previously held the role of Executive Chairman, transitioned into the CEO role, with our founder and original CEO, Amar Arsikere, moving into the role of Chief Product Officer and CTO.
Why is this such a big deal? Well, David used to be the CEO and Chairman of AT&T, and currently sits on the boards of CVS, Dell and Paypal, all multibillion-dollar market leaders. I am sure you are asking yourself now, so what is he doing sitting on the board of an early stage company like Infoworks? It’s not a multibillion-dollar market leader… at least not yet. And that is the key!
As David put it himself, “Digital transformation is an existential imperative for enterprises and analytics agility is a prerequisite. I have seen first-hand how Infoworks’ automation has enabled large enterprises to achieve analytics agility without hiring armies of big data specialists. With the right product at exactly the right time, Infoworks has the potential to quickly become an important industry leader in this large and growing market.”
The market need David refers to is strongly reinforced in the January 2019 New Vantage Partner Survey that states:
It is particularly striking that 77% of respondents say that “business adoption” of big data and AI initiatives continues to represent a challenge for their organizations. This issue, and the low percentage of companies that have achieved data-driven organizations and cultures, suggests the need for a new focus.
The need for a company like Infoworks, which provides automation software for agile data engineering, that helps its customers develop and launch 10 times the number of BI and AI projects in 10% of the time, is clearly now.
We are thrilled to have David Dorman take the helm as our new Chairman as we grow Infoworks to be a multibillion-dollar market leader, consistent with all of the other boards on which he currently sits.
